We need your help to sustain the intervarsity Capture The Flag (CTF) competition! Donate and support
The annual East Africa Intervarsity CTF competition is a free event whose primary objective is to foster capacity development, collaboration, research, and innovation at the university level. The annual competition has enabled us to promote cybersecurity education and practical skills development among students in the region. By aligning the competition with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 1, 4, 5, and 8, CTFROOM underscores its commitment to promoting inclusive and equitable quality education, gender equality, decent work, and economic growth. Notably, the competition has achieved a significant milestone by increasing the participation of women and teams led by women by over 50%, making strides toward creating a more gender-diverse and inclusive environment.
Since the inception of the annual competition, we have reached more than 60 universities and colleges in Africa and impacted more than 1000 students. Our players who have graduated from schools have used the skills gained through the competition to improve their job market competitiveness and to secure jobs. Some are now establishing and growing their own cybersecurity communities based on the networks they gained during the competition. The number of female players continues to increase with each competition, promoting diversity and opening this space. Our team is committed to continuing this and bringing more value to our community.
To continue achieving and scaling this, we need your support. For a long time, a small team of well-wishers and community members have financed the annual East Africa Intervarsity CTF operations. The financial support we receive has primarily been used to cater to students’ awards (60%). Part of the support will now go towards our community teams and volunteers who help with challenge creation (20%) while the remainder goes to CTFROOM to cater for logistics.
We appreciate your support.
